This morning as my children relished in the fact that they didn’t have to get out of bed to go to school, they seemed puzzled that both I and their father would be working on a snow day. You see, Kids, many adults don’t get a break from work just because it might snow. We have jobs that require us to be at work even if there is rain, snow, sleet or hail. Or in the case of today, a threat of ice followed by beautiful, sunny skies.
This had my daughter scheming about what kind of job I could get so I could have a snow day, too. Then, what kind of job she could get so she could still get snow days.
There really is a point in maturity when you realize you’re an adult and the concept of a snow day no longer applies to you.
Enjoy it now, kids, while the snow days still happen in your life. But please, that homework that you put off last night when you realized you didn’t have to go to school today, get it done before I get home.
