The Austin Parks and Recreation Department has a couple of kite making workshops coming up ahead of the kite fest on March 1.

The workshops are free and start at 1 p.m. and end at 3 p.m. The fest has a make-your-own competition, so this might be a good starting point.

Here are the dates.
Saturday: Pan AM Recreation Center (2100 E. Third St. )

Feb. 14: South Austin Recreation Center (1100 Cumberland Road.)

Feb. 21: Northwest Recreation Center (2913 Northland Drive.)
